Local Rules - 2022 Season
1. Summer rules in effect: Play the ball down everywhere except where specifically designated or marked. Areas marked with paint such as drainage pipes or or ground under repair will get relief. Ball to be dropped at the point of nearest relief no closer to the hole. You may take relief from animal droppings (ie Goose Feces). You may clean and drop your ball at the point of nearest relief no closer to the hole.
2. Sand Traps: a) Stones in the bunkers are movable obstructions and can be removed with no penalty. If a bunker is flooded with water and you cannot take proper relief within the bunker, you may take relief by dropping one club length behind the bunker keeping the spot in the bunker between you and the flagstick. You may take relief in the bunkers from footprints man made or from animals. Rake and place. No penalty.
3. Ground Under Repair: Unmaintained fairway bunker on Doe#1 is considered Ground Under repair. Relief from these areas is defined as the CLOSEST point of relief no nearer the hole. This may require you to drop the ball behind the area OR possibly to the left or right of where your ball came to rest depending on where you can get complete relief. Other areas marked off with rope (ie freshly planted grass) or any area marked with paint are also considered to be Ground Under Repair.
4. Roads/Paths: You may take relief from roads and paths that have not been paved. No Penalty. (ie Service road on the right side of Doe#3) Relief from these areas is defined as the CLOSEST point of relief no nearer the hole.
5. Lost Ball/Out of Bounds: Per new USGA guidelines, our club is exercising our right to apply a local rule. In the event of a lost ball or a ball that is struck out of bounds – you may elect to re-hit from the original spot, taking a penalty stroke and distance, or, you may elect to take relief per the attached diagram with a two (2) stroke penalty. This rule is designed to maintain pace of play and reduce search times for lost balls.
6. Provisional Ball: You may only hit a provisional ball if you believe your ball may be out of bounds but aren’t sure. You may NOT play a provisional ball for one that you believe may be in a hazard.(example Doe 9) You must identify it as in the hazard and either play it from the hazard or back behind where it entered with a one stroke penalty.
7. Rulings: If there is a question that can’t be agreed upon by you and your playing partners, take a photo of the lie, play 2 balls and record both scores. You must declare before hitting, which of the 2 shots you would choose to score with. For any decisions regarding interpretation of the rules on course please contact Dennis Serafin 716-474-3721
8. All other play must follow the USGA Rules of Golf. If there are any questions regarding the rules, please refer them to the rules committee.
9. The area to the right of Doe#6 past the water and to the right of the ditch is hazard. You may play out of it or take a drop and take a one stroke penalty.
