Website - Up and Running. Need to populate with updated material
Rules and Greens – Ed and Tom will stake the course this year and provide one or two basic sets of ground rules to try and eliminate confusion.
Entertainment – Tom to get with John to “lock in” special event dates.
Prizes – Keith requested to go “outside” of Golf Galaxy for prizes this year. Keith to research possibilities.
Treasurer - $3125 carried over last year. $4153 carried over to this year. Tom needs to get access to the bank account. Need to pay for plaques and USGA. (Mark requested USGA bill will be held for further discussion)
Handicaps – Mark estimated cost of new computer to be $400.00. OK to purchase. Lengthy discussion on new handicap system. I will remark on new business section of minutes. Mark also requested to link our computer to the Fairway’s Wifi.
Tournaments – Dave H. has kept the same schedule as last year with a few modifications.
Old Business: Officers and committees filled. Dates for prime events established. Minutes Accepted
New Business: Much discussion on whether the Club should join the new World Handicap System (WHS), or not. Mark recommended we not join the first year and see what issues may develop or what other alternatives may be available. Cost may be an issue which is unknown at this point. Motion made by Gary Sullivan to join. Motion passed. Keith raised a second motion that if the cost is prohibitive, we not join. ($1,000) Motion passed. Dave W. will research cost and alternatives with the USGA, New York State Golf Asso., and Buffalo district. Mark had some concerns over transitioning to the WHS. (transferring of data, timing, impact on tournaments).
Tom had several recommendations to be considered at a future meeting. Among those will be to move the Senior Tournament to the Club Championship, Playing Tournaments that involve the Fawn to play from the blue tees, and to change the Out of Bounds on some holes.
Next Meeting – Scheduled for Saturday, February 22nd , 12:00 (Noon) at the Fairways Restaurant
Dave Walos - Secretary
